Steve Reyes' Story

Reyes on Tour

VINTAGE RACING PHOTOGRAPHY

Steve Reyes was first introduced to the grand sport of drag racing in 1963 when he read an ad in the Oakland Tribune for "Nitro Burning Slingshot Dragsters" at Fremont Drag Strip.  So at 15 years of age, Steve convinced his dad to take him to the race and his dad was even gracious enough to loan him his 620 Brownie for Steve to record the event.  Once at the track, he was mesmerized by the smoke, noise and nitro fumes.  After stretching the truth a little with Ron Lawrence, the track manager, he was allowed into the photo area and the rest is history.
